No you can not do that.

"We are not, nor do we have any interest in being, a general-purpose domain registration provider."

You can register domains with them without using their hosting. Why did you think otherwise?!

I decided not to name NearlyFreespeech for domain registration because they will only register your domain if you host your site with them.
I do not consider NearlyFreespeech a domain registrar company, but webhosting one.

Well, DomainsByProxy/GoDaddy are serving me quite well, despite all the horror stories I've read. DomainsByProxy can quite easily be socially engineered, I'm still frightened they will drop me without reason or something.

NearlyFreeSpeech.NET will only ever reveal any information if they receive a court order. They are extremely competent and zero horror stories so far, despite them being established since 2002.

Fair enough, you are entitled to disagree of course.
Feel free to name your favourite privacy registrar, I have already named mine.

From Internet.BS's terms of service:

"a. Against Infringement. You represent and warrant to Internet.bs that you hold the necessary rights to use, or permit to use, any item used through Internet.bs's Services, and that such use will not in any way:

    * (i) violate or potentially violate any right of any third party, including, without limitation, infringement or misappropriation of any copyright, patent, trademark, trade secret, or other proprietary right;
    * (ii) constitute or potentially constitute violations, such as, without limitation, false advertisement, unfair competition, defamation, invasion of privacy, invasion of rights, and discrimination;
    * (iii) cause or potentially cause a business dispute, personal dispute, or any other dispute;
    * (iv) be or potentially be unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, libelous, slanderous, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, profane, hateful, or otherwise offensive;
    * (v) be or potentially be racially, ethnically, disputatiously, argumentatively, or ethically objectionable; or
    * (vi) encourage conduct that would constitute a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability, or otherwise violate any applicable law, including, without limitation, local, provincial, state, national, international, or other laws.

Breach of this section will constitute material breach of this Agreement and cause for immediate cancellation of your Registration and Domain."

Terrible suggestion. And why mention that they're under the Bahamas jurisdiction? It's not like they have "amazing privacy laws". (Not that the registrar would only comply with the police in revealing your information.)
